You and Your Attorney

I recognize that being involved in a lawsuit, especially a family law matter, can be an overwhelming and, sometimes, distressing experience. Here are some tips for a successful attorney-client relationship.

Communication

Please let me know what is on your mind and what is bothering you.  I realize that in a family law matter, some material may be of an extremely personal nature.  However, withholding information regarding your feelings or concerns could affect the outcome of your case.  Remember, your information is confidential and will not be released without your permission.

Material

Bring material such as letters and tax returns that may be pertinent to your case to your consultations.  It may help for you to create and organize a file folder with copies of these items.

Questions

Do not hesitate to ask questions – remember, there are no stupid questions, just people who may feel stupid later because they did not ask a question.  You may wish to make a list of questions that you have and bring it to your consultation.

Your Bill

Remember, I am a person like you with bills and a family to support.  I will bill you monthly and notify you of your trust account balance.  Please do not hesitate to let me know of extenuating circumstances that may affect your ability to pay your bill.  I will make every effort to accommodate you, from accepting credit cards to setting up payment plans.

Satisfaction

Are you satisfied with the service you are receiving? I am in this business to help people.  Please let me know if there is something I can do to make your experience a better one.  A large part of my business depends upon word of mouth referrals – an unhappy client will be reluctant to refer me.  Remember - client satisfaction is my paramount concern
