Also known as Dissolution of Marriage, every divorce proceeding is unique. Divorce ripples throughout the family structure and I view that my task is to make sure that all family members are taken care of, accounting for:
• Division of property/equitable distribution
• Asset evaluation
• The needs of the children and spouses for health and life insurance, and retirement.
• Planning for the future - a current will is part of such a plan, so that you, not the state, have the final say in the distribution of your assets and appointment of guardians for your children.
How I do this for you.
The first step is to schedule an initial consultation.
Fees for legal services are charged by the hour. Typically, you will pay a lump sum or retainer fee to cover the costs of legal representation and other expenses (postage, filing fees) in your case. This payment is deposited into a trust account in your name. As your case progresses, the costs of representation and other expenses will be billed to you monthly and the money in your trust account used to make payment.
You will enter into a fee agreement with my office describing how your money is handled. Retainer fees average between $2,000 - $3,000 for a typical divorce proceeding.
Fee Schedule.
Initial consultation (attorney) $100/hour
Services (attorney): $250/hour
Service (financial analysis) $100/hour
Services (paralegal): $75/hour
Charges for ordinary office services such as typing, scheduling, and bookkeeping are considered overhead.
